How much is it worth? The Brighton Beach Bathing Box

I’m sure most of you have came across photos from your friends, or saw on social media these beautiful bathing boxes! They are one of Melbourne’s most instagramable place – The Brighton Beach Bathing Boxes!

Situated about 13km away from Melbourne City central, these bathing boxes are actually on a beach called Dendy Street Beach of the Bayside area. These little bathing boxes are not only colourful and pretty go look at, they actually have quite a lot of history behind them too! These bathing boxes are all identical in sizes and constructions, and all retain the Victorian architectural elements. Built with timber framing, weatherboards and corrugated iron roofs, the bathing boxes remain as they did over a hundred years ago! These Bathing Boxes have no electricity nor water connected to them, and they are only L2.4m X W2.0m X H2.0m big, so most of them (if not all of them) are only storage for the locals to put their gears, to hang around with friends, drink some beer, and enjoy the summer days on the beach. A lot of these Bathing Boxes are being passed on from the grandfather, to their children, to their grandchildren and so on, so for a lot of the Bayside Residence, these Bathing Boxes are not just pretty go look at, but has a lot of memories and meanings to them as well.

The first successful deal of 2018 was Bathing Box 26, and the price was AUD$300,000! With this amount of money, you can actually buy a proper house in some suburbs of Melbourne already!  On top of that, not any one can buy these Bathing Boxes, you will first need to be a residence of the Bayside area, which means you need to have a house in one of the most expensive suburb in Melbourne first, then you are qualified to bid for the Bathing Boxes.

I would probably never be able to own one of these beautiful Bathing Boxes, so let’s just take a lot of photos  🙂
